Behind the glamour

Shan You, the founder and creative director of BoBijou jewellery, is a truly international person and well travelled around the world. She can speak 4 languages at native level including English, French and Chinese across her multi-cultural life experience. Shan has been a regular speaker to date invited by the BBC´s renowned morning business program "Wake Up to Money" for commenting on China and worlds´ business and economy issues.

French flavour

Shan has an impressive academic history which includes a bachelor honour´s degree in Engineering, followed by a MBA from France´s No 1 business school HEC School of Management in Paris; this included an honour´s degree "Mention Excellente" following the high mark given by the dissertation judge who is now the French president - Nicola Sarkozy, then Finance minister of France, from HEC´s most prestigious specialised program HEC Entrepreneurs.

With a strict and intellectual family background, Shan pursued a classic educational path and followed by a high flyer career path. Clearly ambitious and self motivated, Shan joined the world´s largest consulting firm Accenture (formerly Anderson consulting) as a strategy consultant based in Paris after the MBA degree. After 5 years of top ranking performance with Accenture, Shan left the company to pursue her own entrepreneurial dream.

Founding BoBijou

Shan´s design skills came to light at a very young age, with an almost obsessive interest in jewellery and fashion accessories. From the age of 10, she started hand string beaded necklaces and bracelets for families and friends as gifts. The early design flair coupled with her vision to set-up her own international jewellery brand paved the way to the creation of BoBijou. As soon as she spotted a gap in the market that no brand is offering the couture designs of fashion jewellery, that is completely hand made with precious and natural material without any cheap or fake material, she decided to launch BoBijou.

Today´s overwhelming success of BoBijou jewellery is based on Shan´s ambitious vision and concept of affordable luxury, where unique style designer jewellery made with natural precious materials and offered at reasonable prices.
